LINCOLN, Neb. – Four current and former members of the Oklahoma State wrestling team finished up action at the U.S. Senior World Team Trials on Saturday afternoon.
After a run to the 74kg challenger finals Alex Dieringer finished second in the bracket, dropping Illinois standout Isaiah Martinez, 4-2, in the second place match. Dieringer earned a bye to the semifinals, where he defeated Chance Marsteller by way of 10-0 technical fall. The former Cowboy battled Kyle Dake tough in the challenger finals, but ultimately fell, 2-1.
Former Cowboy Josh Kindig advanced to the 61kg semifinals with a 10-3 win over Joe Colon in the quarters, before dropping a 10-4 match to Brandon Wright. Kindig's day would end in the consolation semis, as he fell in a narrow, 5-4, match to Chris Dardanes.
Reigning two-time NCAA Champion Dean Heil got off to a rough start for the day, dropping a 4-3 match to BJ Futrell in the 65 kg quarterfinals. Heil bounced back in consolation when he dropped Mario Mason, 4-3, to advance to the consolation semifinals. The Cowboy fell to Nick Dardanes by way of a 10-0 technical fall to wrap up his tournament.
Recent Cowboy graduate Kyle Crutchmer dropped a 14-1 technical fall to Pat Downey in the 86kg quarterfinals, but much like Heil, bounced back in the backdraw with a 5-2 win over Joe Rau. Crutchmer would be eliminated from competition in the consolation semifianals, dropping a 9-3 match to Richard Perry.
