May 22, 2017 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State center Brad Lundblade has been named to the Rimington Trophy 2017 Spring Watch List, the Rimington Trophy Committee announced Monday.
Lundblade is one of 63 players on the list for the award, which is presented annually to the most outstanding center at the FBS level. He is one of eight players from the Big 12 included on the list, and at least one player from every conference was nominated.
The committee compiled the watch list through nominations from programs across the country that submitted their starting centers for consideration.
A one-time walk-on who was put on scholarship prior to the opening of 2015 fall camp, Lundblade has started every game for the Cowboys each of the past two seasons.
Lundblade helped guide the Cowboy offensive line back into a considerable force last season, playing a major role in Justice Hill becoming the first freshman in school history to surpass 1,000 rushing yards. He also received several academic honors, highlighted by earning a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-America Division I Football first team. He was the only player from a Big 12 school to earn first-team honors in 2016. Additionally, he was selected to the CoSIDA First Team Academic All-District Team and the First Team Academic All-Big 12 Team.
The Rimington Trophy Committee will use three All-America teams to determine a winner, including the teams formulated by the Walter Camp Foundation, the Sporting News and the Football Writers Association of America.
The center with the most first team votes will be named the winner and be recognized at the Rimington Trophy Presentation at the Rococo Theatre in Lincoln, Neb., on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018.
