BROUSSARD, La. – Casey Wittenberg picked up his first Web.com Tour victory since 2012 on Sunday, winning the Chitimacha Louisiana Open at Le Triomphe Golf and Country Club.
The former Oklahoma State All-American posted a closing 2-under 69 to finish at 21-under 263 and three shots clear of the field. Wittenberg opened with a 65 during his first round before carding rounds of 64 and 65 to take a commanding lead into his final round.
After opening with a birdie at the par-5 first, Wittenberg posted his lone bogey of the day at the second. He moved back under par with a birdie at the fourth before stringing together 12 pars in a row. He sealed the win with a birdie at the 17th to get to his 2-under score.
Wittenberg was joined in the top five by former Cowboy Talor Gooch, who shared fifth place at 14-under 270, while Jordan Niebrugge finished at 8-under 276 and tied for 45th place.
His triumph marks the second time he has won the event. The tournament was one of two victories for the Memphis, Tenn., native in 2012. He also won the Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open that same year.
Sunday's win is the third time a Cowboy has won the tournament with Edward Loar following Wittenberg's win in 2012 with one of his own in 2013.
