Cowgirls Defeat Fresno State On Senior Day

STILLWATER, Oklahoma – The No. 2-ranked Oklahoma State Equestrian team defeated No. 6 Fresno State, 14-5, Saturday at Totusek Arena.
Cowgirl seniors Maggie Drysch, Jorden Davis, Miranda Reed and Jordan Langan were honored for their accomplishments at the match.
Rain forced the entirety of the match inside, and the Cowgirls (8-2, 3-1) started the day off with a commanding lead, winning Equitation over Fences, 4-1. Hannah Janson, Katie Jones, Carly Barrick and Davis each won their matchups during the event, with Barrick earning a Most Outstanding Performer honor for her 80-69 victory over FSU's Alex Dirickson.
The Cowgirls would also win Equitation on the Flat, 3-2, with victories from Davis, Drysch and Kendall Pedigo. Drysch's victory marked her fourth-straight win.
The Cowgirls kept Fresno State scoreless in Horsemanship, taking the event 4-0 behind victories from Maddie Bender, Kirsten Chamberland, Libby Collins and Sarah Miller. Chamberland's win is her fourth of the spring season as she defeated FSU's Taylor Brown, 73-70.5. Bender earned an MOP for her win over FSU's Rachel Williams, 76-72.
The Reining team once again shined for the Cowgirls, winning the event, 3-2, as Julia Purus, Hannah Mitchell and Danielle Cohen were bright spots for OSU. Cohen defeated FSU's Paige Barton 74-70, with the score marking Cohen's highest of the season, while Purus won her matchup against FSU's Shea Gilson, 72.5-71.5. Mitchell's victory against FSU's Hailey Robison was her ninth-straight win, and she captured her fifth-consecutive MOP honor.
"It was a great day," said head coach Larry Sanchez. "It was a great final meet to go out on, being able to beat Fresno State at home."
The Cowgirls will continue their season at the Big 12 Championship in Waco, Texas, with the event being held on March 23-25.
