Ateman Accepts Reese's Senior Bowl Invitation
December 04, 2017 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State wide receiver Marcell Ateman has accepted an invitation to compete in the 2018 Reese's Senior Bowl, it was announced today.
Ateman is one of 22 names announced by the Senior Bowl today, and he is the third Big 12 athlete to have accepted an invite thus far. The other two are Oklahoma fullback Dimitri Flowers and Iowa State wide receiver Allen Lazard.
The Dallas native is coming off an impressive 2017 campaign that saw him earn second-team All-Big 12 honors. He has racked up 1,049 receiving yards on 54 catches and has scored eight receiving touchdowns. His 1,049 receiving yards are good for 17th nationally and are second only to James Washington among OSU wide receivers this season.
Ateman and Washington's success catching passes has also helped Oklahoma State become the first team in Big 12 Conference history have a 4,000-yard passer (Mason Rudolph), a 1,000-yard rusher (Justice Hill) and two 1,000-yard receivers (Ateman and Washington). That feat has only been achieved nine other times in FBS history and only twice has it been done so at the Power Five level.
The Senior Bowl invite continues to build on a long list of 2017 accolades for the 6-4 wide receiver. Among his many accolades, Ateman was a midseason addition to the Biletnikoff Award watch list after posting four 100-yard receiving performances early in the season. He was also named to the 2017 All-Big 12 squad earlier this week, collecting second-team honors.
Ateman and the rest of the Reese's Senior Bowl invitees will compete on Jan. 27, 2018 in Mobile, Alabama. For more information, visit www.seniorbowl.com.
