Beffer, Tresfield Collect Scholar All-America Honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Anna Beffer and Laurene Tresfield joined a select list of Oklahoma State soccer student-athletes today as both seniors were named 2017 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Women's Scholar All-Americans.

Beffer became the third Cowgirl to earn Academic/Scholar All-America First Team honors, while Tresfield was named to the third team. They become the 10th and 11th players in OSU soccer history to collect Academic All-America recognition, while Beffer joins Yolanda Odenyo (2006, 2008) and Krista Lopez (2010, 2011) as Cowgirls to garner first-team accolades.

"I'm very proud of Anna and Laurene for receiving this recognition from the United Soccer Coaches; to receive this award, you have to excel on the field and in the classroom at an incredibly high level," said OSU head coach Colin Carmichael. "These two are both wonderful student-athletes who represent our university, athletic department and soccer program in the right manner. Anna and Laurene are fully deserving of this recognition, and I'm so happy to see them honored for their hard work on and off the field."

Student-athletes receiving Scholar All-America recognition at the NCAA Division I level must meet the following criteria:
           • 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) or better throughout career
           • Started more than 50 percent of all games and significantly contribute to their team
           • Nominated by head coach of current College Services member institution
           • Junior or above in academic standing and, if a transfer student, in second year at school

Beffer capped her career by finishing second in the NCAA in 2017 with 13 assists, and the three-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team honoree owns a 3.76 GPA while double majoring in finance and sports management. Along with her career-high assist total, the All-Big 12 First Team performer notched four goals to finish fourth in the Big 12 Conference with 21 points.

Carrying a 3.75 GPA in university studies/education, Tresfield was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team this season while also collecting Academic All-Big 12 First Team honors for the third time in her career. The Paris, France native started all 23 of OSU's matches and led the team in minutes played while tallying two goals and an assist from her center back spot and anchoring a defense that recorded nine shutouts.

Beffer and Tresfield helped lead OSU to a 16-4-3 record that included a Big 12 championship and an appearance in the second round of the NCAA Women's Soccer Championship.

Players on this year's Scholar All-America Teams will be formally acknowledged for their accomplishments on the field and in the classroom at the All-America Luncheon on January 20, 2018 in Philadelphia in conjunction with the 2018 United Soccer Coaches Convention.
