What the Media Are Saying After Bedlam

STILLWATER - The Oklahoma State football team suffered its second loss of the season this weekend, as the 11th-ranked Cowboys fell to No. 5 Oklahoma, 62-52, in the 112th edition of the Bedlam Series.
OSU (7-2; 4-2 Big 12) and the rival Sooners (8-1; 5-1 Big 12) put on an offensive clinic, with two of the nation's most potent attacking units combined to score a Bedlam-record 114 points. In the end, however, it was OU that came out on top, taking the upper-hand in a tight race toward a Big 12 title.
After Saturday's contest, state and local media discussed the Cowboys' efforts and how the team will move forward to next week's trip to Iowa State.
The Oklahoman's Scott Wright noted defensive end Jordan Brailford's thoughts on Oklahoma State's trip to Ames. The Cowboy lineman, who tallied three tackles for loss against the Sooners, said "our mindset doesn't change at all. We always come back ready to go. We always go out there, practice hard and focus on getting ready for the next opponent.
"We'll be back out tomorrow to start another week and get ready for Iowa State."
Shifting the coverage to the other side of the state, the Tulsa World's Mark Cooper published his observations from a wild Bedlam game, including the impressive performance of sophomore running back Justice Hill. The Tulsa, Oklahoma native set a Bedlam rushing record with 228 yards on the ground, surpassing Barry Sanders' previous record of 215 rushing yards.
Bill Haisten, also of the Tulsa World, recapped head coach Mike Gundy and his salute for OU quarterback Baker Mayfield.
"Here's the truth of it: I've got a lot of respect for guys who play the game," Gundy said. "(Mayfield) does some stuff at times to frustrate people, but you've got to give him credit. The guy can play. I've got respect for guys who can play."
Oklahoma State has three games remaining in the regular season, the first of which will take place in Ames next Saturday. Kickoff at Jack Trice Stadium is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT on either ABC or ESPN2 (check your local listings).
