November 30, 2017 | Cowgirl Soccer
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Oklahoma State's Haley Woodard joined elite company today when she was named a 2017 All-American by the United Soccer Coaches.
A junior for the Cowgirls, Woodard was named to the All-America Third Team at forward, and she becomes the fourth player in OSU history to earn All-America honors, joining Yolanda Odenyo (2006-08), AD Franch (2010-12) and Melinda Mercado (2010-11).
"I'm very proud of Haley and her terrific accomplishments this season," said OSU head coach Colin Carmichael. "To be named an All-American by the United Soccer Coaches is a great honor and joining the list of all-time Cowgirl greats as OSU Soccer All-Americans is an amazing achievement. When you consider all the great players competing in college women's soccer, to be recognized as one of the best in the nation is a great testament to Haley's performance this season.
"I'm very excited about what the future holds for Haley as a senior next season and for our program building on what we were able to accomplish this year."
Woodard helped lead OSU to a 16-4-3 record in 2017, with the Cowgirls capturing a Big 12 Conference championship and advancing to the second round of the NCAA Soccer Championship along the way.
The leading goal scorer on the Big 12's top offense, Woodard was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and finished the season with eight goals and three assists in 18 games. The Norman, Okla. native tied for the league lead with four goals and nine points in conference-only games.
