Cowgirl Trio Collects All-Region Honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Three Oklahoma State Cowgirls have earned 2017 All-South Region recognition from the United Soccer Coaches as Anna Beffer, Haley Woodard and Laurene Tresfield each collected the honor.

Both Beffer and Woodard were named to the All-South Region First Team, while Tresfield earned a spot on the second team. It marks the first time since 2012 OSU has placed three players on the all-region teams; the selection of Beffer and Woodard also gives the Cowgirls two first-team performers for the first time since 2011.

Beffer completed her senior season with 13 assists, a total that currently leads the NCAA, and the midfielder added four goals, three of them game winners, to give her 21 points. The 13 assists ranks as the third most in a season in OSU history, and she ranks fifth on the program's all-time list.

Named the 2017 Big 12 Conference Offensive Player of the Year, Woodard led OSU with eight goals to go along with three assists in 18 games. The forward from Norman, Okla., tied for the Big 12 lead with four goals and nine points in conference games.

Tresfield enjoyed her best collegiate season as a senior. A native of Paris, France, the defender started all 23 games in 2017 and led the Cowgirls with 2,059 minutes played. She tallied two goals and an assist and anchored a defense that recorded nine shutouts from her center back spot.

OSU's all-region performers helped lead the Cowgirls to a 16-4-3 record and a Big 12 regular season championship while also helping the program advance to the second round of the NCAA Women's Soccer Championship for the first time in six years.
