What the Media Are Saying After OSU vs. Kansas
November 26, 2017 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER - The Oklahoma State football team capped off its regular season Saturday with an impressive 58-17 win over Kansas on senior day.
Much of the discussion from state and local media after the win was about the historic group of seniors that OSU honored prior to the start of the game, and the impact that those players have had on the program as a whole.
The Oklahoman's Scott Wright talked with safety Tre Flowers about his feeling surrounding the day. Flowers has been a key contributor for the Cowboys defensively and has developed into one of the Big 12's best safeties during his time in Stillwater, but he still couldn't wrap his head around what yesterday's game truly meant.
"It hasn't hit me yet," Flowers said of playing his last game in Boone Pickens Stadium. "I bet it'll probably hit me in the morning or something. I'm just in the moment right now, being with my brothers after a win."
Along with Flowers, quarterback Mason Rudolph soaked in his senior-day moment, as recapped by The Oklahoman's Jenni Carslon.
"I'm just humbled by this community," Rudolph said after the victory. "The fans. My teammates. My coaches."
Carlson noted that Rudolph spent much of his day appreciating Oklahoma State and the community it is a part of, but she also wrote that Rudolph has left Cowboy fans with plenty to be thankful for, citing his unheralded statistical success or the on-field moments he has had a hand in creating during his time in Stillwater.
On the other side of the state, the Tulsa World's Mark Cooper dissected the Cowboys' clinical performance against Kansas. He noted that OSU scored on six of its first seven possessions to run away from the Jayhawks. That early dominance helped set the stage for an emotional senior send-off, as Rudolph, James Washington and others checked out for the final time.
The same occurred for the defensive seniors on the following possession, capping off what was an emotionally-charged day for all those within Boone Pickens Stadium.
