Cowgirls Close Homestand With 78-44 Win Over NSU

STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State's women's basketball team improved to 4-0 on the season with a 78-44 win over Northwestern State on Sunday afternoon in front of 1,617 fans inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.

With the win, the Cowgirls (4-0) wrapped up their season-opening homestand and won their 52nd consecutive regular-season home game against non-conference competition.

In the first quarter, the Cowgirls closed the period on a 13-2 run capped with back-to-back 3-pointers from redshirt freshman Jaden Hobbs and junior Maria Castro to lead, 25-13.

OSU used a quick 7-0 spurt that took less than a minute and included another trey from Hobbs to extend to a 39-16 advantage with 7:25 to play in the half.

The Cowgirls shot 60 percent over the first 20 minutes to take a 51-24 lead at the break and never looked back.

Senior Loryn Goodwin led all scorers with 14 points to go with six rebounds, three assists and three steals. Sophomore Areanna Combs reached double figures for the second consecutive outing, finishing with 11 points and five rebounds.

Junior Jentry Holt came off the bench to add 11 points and grab five rebounds of her own.

The Cowgirls will be back in action on Nov. 23 when they face South Dakota at 3 p.m. in Cancun, Mexico as part of the Women's Cancun Challenge.
