Cowboys Climb to No. 10 in National Polls
November 12, 2017 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State football team continued to be a fixture in the top 15 in this week's national polls, as the Cowboys jumped two spots in both polls to No. 10 in the Associated Press Top 25 and No. 13 in the USA Today Amway Coaches Poll, both of which were released Sunday.
Oklahoma State (8-2; 5-2 Big 12) has now been ranked in the top 15 of at least one of the national polls for 18 consecutive weeks, dating back to Nov. 13, 2017. It is also the fifth week this season that OSU has been ranked in the top 10 of at least one of the national polls.
The Cowboys are coming off a thrilling 49-42 win in Ames against Iowa State this past weekend. A late interception by cornerback A.J. Green secured the win for OSU, maintaining the Pokes' hopes at advancing to the reformed Big 12 Championship game in three weeks. Oklahoma State currently sits tied for second in the league with TCU and West Virginia, one game behind league-leading Oklahoma.
Those four teams make up a quartet of Big 12 schools ranked in this week's polls. Oklahoma (No. 3/5) leads the group, followed by OSU, TCU (No. 11/14) and then West Virginia (No. 24/25) rounds out the pack.
Oklahoma State will return to Stillwater for the final two weeks of the regular season, and in each week the Cowboys will clash with a conference foe from the Sunflower State. This Saturday, OSU will square off with Kansas State at 2:30 p.m. on ESPN2.
