• Mike Boynton got the win in his debut as the 20th head coach in OSU history. Since Mr. Henry Iba made his debut in 1934-35, new OSU head coaches are now 9-2 in their first games leading the program.

• OSU's defense led the way for the Cowboys. OSU held Pepperdine to 47 points. The last time the Cowboys held an opponent to fewer than 50 points was Jan. 2, 2016 against TCU.

• OSU held Pepperdine to just 21 first-half points, which are the fewest allowed by the Cowboys since holding TCU to 19 points on Feb. 8, 2016. They also forced 12 turnovers in the first half.

• This was the 13th career start for Lindy Waters III. He was the focal point of the offense for the Cowboys. He led them with 14 points, which is a career high for him.

• This begins the 109th season of Oklahoma State basketball, and the Cowboys are now 85-24 (.780) in season-openers. In fact, OSU has won 23 straight season openers dating back to a loss in the 1994-95 season opener.

• OSU was without the services of Davon Dillard and Zack Dawson due to an indefinite suspension for a failure to meet team standards. The Cowboys also withheld Jeffrey Carroll from play.
