Cowboys Fall, Cowgirls Hold in Week Six Regional Rankings

STILLWATER — In the week six United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll, the Oklahoma State men's cross country team dropped to No. 2 in the Midwest Region after finishing third at the Big 12 Championships in Round Rock, Texas.
Iowa State snaps the longest-active streak in the nation, which OSU held for the past 59 weeks. The Cowboys have been ranked at the top of the region in each ranking since August 2011.
The men finished third behind Iowa State (40) and Texas (41) with 44 points, with senior Hassan Abdi taking the individual conference title. He is the first Cowboy to do so since Vegard Oelstad in 2015, with Luis Martinez finishing second overall behind Abdi by about a second.
The Cowgirls held at No. 3 in the region behind Minnesota and Iowa State. The Cowgirls are coming off a second-place finish at the Big 12 Championships scoring 89 points.
The women had four top-20 competitors at the conference race, with senior Molly Sughroue taking an impressive ninth overall and recording a personal best in the 6K.
The teams get a short break to rest before returning to action at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships in Ames, Iowa on Nov. 10.
