Checking In On Heisman Trophy Candidate Mason Rudolph

STILLWATER – Putting up high-end numbers for a top-10 team that finds itself in the Big 12 and College Football Playoff discussion, Oklahoma State quarterback Mason Rudolph is a Heisman Trophy candidate who is playing in a showcase game this week, as the 10th-ranked Cowboys host ninth-ranked Oklahoma in a Bedlam clash that features ESPN's College GameDay program originating live from Stillwater.
The senior out of Rock Hill, S.C., was selected to the Midseason AP All-America team and ranks No. 1 in FBS in passing yards (2,866) and passing yards per game (358.3).
In total, Rudolph ranks among the top five individuals nationally in nine different NCAA statistics. He also leads the nation in completions of at least 30, 40 and 60 yards.
Additionally, he is ranked No. 2 nationally in ESPN's total QBR metric at 86.3 and is among the NCAA's active career leaders in every important passing statistic.
If the Oklahoma State football record book is any indication, then Rudolph has a legitimate argument as the best quarterback in school history.
A little more than halfway through his senior year, Rudolph owns no fewer than 32 school records.
