What the Media Are Saying: OSU vs. West Virginia
October 28, 2017 | Cowboy Football
MORGANTOWN, W.V. - The Oklahoma State football team continues to run the gauntlet in the Big 12 Conference today, as the Cowboys take on No. 22 West Virginia in Morgantown at 11 a.m. CT.
After earning their fifth-straight win in Austin last week against Texas, state and local media has covered the Cowboys from all angles.
The Oklahoman's John Helsey wrote about Marcell Ateman's reemergence as one of the most prolific receivers in the Big 12 after missing the 2016 season due to injury. Helsley continued by recapping Ateman's growth and readjustment to life out on the football field once again.
"It's been amazing so far," Ateman said. "Being back among my teammates, coaches, being back in that stadium; it's just a blessing to be able to play again."
Continuing on the trend of success among the OSU football program, The Oklahoman's Berry Tramel discussed the now-popular term "rat poison" and why the Cowboys should embrace it. Tramel makes the case that the Cowboys should buy in to what they've already done, because that winning mentality can only help with the challenges to come, such as playing a tough West Virginia team in Morgantown today.
One of the key aspects of Tramel's column was his note about Oklahoma State's success in close games, which is something the Tulsa World's Mark Cooper went in-depth about this week. Cooper noted how the Cowboys' culture has been instrumental in the program's success in recent years, especially in compiling a 13-1 record in games decided by a touchdown or less since the middle of the 2014 season.
Saturday's matchup in Morgantown might just be another one of those close contests, as two of the nation's most prolific offenses square off. Kickoff at Milan Puskar Stadium is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT on ABC.
