Cowgirls Drop Meet at South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The No. 5 Oklahoma State equestrian team lost to South Carolina 13-7 on Friday at One Wood Farm.
The two teams started off with Horsemanship and the Cowgirls (1-2, 1-0) continued their dominance in the event. The Cowgirls took Horsemanship 3-2 with wins from Libby Collins, Harley Huff and Paige Kemper.
Collins, Huff and Kemper each stayed undefeated on the year with their wins.
Next up was Equitation on the Flat, and South Carolina (1-2, 0-1) won the close event, 3-2. The Cowgirls got their two points from Maggie Drysch, who won 75-67, and Kendall Pedigo, who won 73-60.
The overall score was tied up at five at the halfway point in the meet.
The meet then moved to Equitation over Fences and the Gamecocks took the event 4-1. The Cowgirls lone point came from Carly Barrick, who won 84-83. The entire event was extremely close with three of the four losses coming down to two points or less.
They finished up with Reining, where South Carolina came out on top, 4-1. Stephanie Helsen got her third-straight victory for the Cowgirls with a 67.5-60 win over Paisley Roberts. Once again, the scores were incredibly close with three of the losses being decided by less than two points.
Helsen also took home MOP honors with her victory. It's her first MOP honor of her collegiate career.
The Cowgirls will get a week off next week before No. 7 TCU comes to Stillwater on Nov. 10.
