Cowgirl Soccer: Rewind & A Look Ahead

Oklahoma State took over sole possession of first place in the Big 12 Conference standings over the weekend following wins over Kansas State and Kansas. This week, the Cowgirls conclude the regular season with a game at Texas — with a win or tie, they are guaranteed of a conference championship.

Weekend Highlights

OSU is 14-2-2 on the season and 7-1-0 in Big 12 Conference play.
The 14 wins are the most by a Cowgirl team since the 2011 squad posted a program-record 22. The seven conference wins also mark OSU's highest total since the 2010 team had a school-record eight.
The Cowgirls finished the regular season with a perfect 9-0-0 record on their home field. OSU has only gone unbeaten and untied on its home field once in program history, that coming in 2008 when the Cowgirls were 10-0-0.
Anna Beffer scored goals in both OSU games last weekend to bring her season total to four and tie her with Haley Woodard for the team lead in points with 17, which also ranks third in the Big 12.
Laurene Tresfield recorded her first goal and first assist of the season on the weekend and was one of only two OSU field players to play all 180 minutes.
OSU won its first-ever match against conference newcomer Kansas State on Friday with a 2-1 decision. The Cowgirls fell behind at the 5:20 mark but tallied a pair of first-half goals to record the win.
Charmé Morgan netted OSU's first goal against K-State, which marked her first-career goal in Big 12 play, and Anna Beffer provided the game winner in the 23^rd minute.
Haley Woodard got the scoring started in Sunday's win over Kansas, and Laurene Tresfield and Anna Beffer each added goals to give OSU a 3-1 win on Senior Day.
Michela Ongaro collected four saves in each match last weekend.

OSU has outscored its opponents 41-13 on the season, and 13 different Cowgirls have recorded goals. Eleven of those players have multiple goals, led by Haley Woodard's seven.

Woodard has seven goals in 13 games this season, with her 0.54 goals per game leading the Big 12.
A junior forward, Woodard's four goals and nine points in Big 12 play top the conference.
Woodard's seven goals are a career high, besting her six from last season.
In conference-only games, Michela Ongaro leads the Big 12 in with an .891 save percentage.
Ongaro has recorded 64 saves on the season, with 41 of those coming in OSU's eight conference games.
Three of Ongaro's four shutouts this season have come in Big 12 play (vs. TCU, Baylor and Texas Tech).
Freshman Taylor Olson is tied for fourth in the Big 12 with six goals, a total that also marks the most goals by an OSU freshman since Courtney Dike's 13 in 2013.

OSU concludes the regular season Friday at 7 p.m. when the Cowgirls take on Texas in Austin in a matchup of nationally ranked teams.
Texas is 13-1-2 on the season, including a 9-0-1 mark on its home field, and the Longhorns sit in third place in the Big 12 standings at 5-1-2. UT was ranked as high as No. 10 in last week's national rankings.
The Longhorns are led by sophomore forward Cyera Hintzen, who is tied for the Big 12 lead in points (19) and goals (7), while goalie Nicole Curry leads the conference with 10 shutouts and sports a 0.53 goals against average.
