STILLWATER – Oklahoma State moved into sole possession of first place in the Big 12 Conference with a 2-1 win over Kansas State Friday afternoon at the Cowgirl Soccer Complex.

The 19^th-ranked Cowgirls netted both their goals in the opening half as they improved to 13-2-2 overall and 6-1-0 in league play. The six conference wins is the most by an OSU team since the 2011 squad went 6-0-2; that year also marks the program's last Big 12 championship.

Charmé Morgan and Anna Beffer notched the scores for OSU, which outshot the Wildcats 16-6 in the match, while Michela Ongaro recorded four saves in goal. With the win, the Cowgirls also improved to 8-0-0 on their home field this season.

K-State (6-9-1, 1-6-0) owned an 11-3 advantage on corner kicks in the match, and the visitors would take an early lead off one of those opportunities.

At the 5:20 mark, Hannah Davis delivered a corner kick into the box, and Avery Green flicked a header just inside the near post to put KSU up 1-0.

The Cowgirls would get the equalizer in the 16^th minute when Morgan won possession of the ball and drilled a shot from the corner of the 18-yard box top shelf to the far post to make the score 1-1. The goal was Morgan's fourth of the season, and the first of her career in Big 12 play.

The game did not remain tied long. In the 23^rd minute, OSU was fouled, and Laurene Tresfield stepped up and crushed a long free kick into the box where Beffer chipped it in over a charging KSU keeper in Miranda Larkin for her third goal of the season and 2-1 Cowgirl lead.

OSU would maintain the 2-1 advantage until the final horn, standing strong against a furious late attack by the Wildcats that saw Ongaro record three of her four saves in the final 12 minutes.

The Cowgirls return to action for their final home game of the regular season Sunday at 1 p.m. when they host Kansas.
