STILLWATER – Oklahoma State continues Big 12 play this weekend with a showdown at DKR Memorial Stadium in Austin against Texas
The Longhorns come into this week's affair with a 3-3 (2-1 Big 12) record, but are coming off a hard-fought, 29-24, loss to No. 9 Oklahoma.
Texas' offense is led by quarterback Sam Ehlinger, who has amassed some impressive numbers at the halfway point of the Longhorns' season. Ehlinger has completed 85 passes for 1178 yards and six touchdown passes. He has also tallied 271 yards rushing so far this season.
Along with Ehlinger, Texas fields a wealth of talent at the skill positions, including running back Chris Warren III, who has compiled 274 rushing yards and five touchdowns on just 55 carries so far this season. Texas' leading wide receiver, Colin Johnson, has hauled in 27 passes this season to rack up 511 receiving yards through six contests.
Texas leads the all-time series between the two schools, 24-7, but the Cowboys have taken care of business against Texas in Austin during head coach Mike Gundy's tenure, winning each of the last four contests between the schools at DKR Memorial Stadium. Notre Dame is the only other school to have compiled a four-game winning streak against the Longhorns in Austin.
Aside from an athletic offense, Texas' defense has look much-improved in recent weeks, as the Longhorns have allowed: 19.4 points per game, 361.4 total yards per game and just 87.4 rushing yards per game over their last five contests. The UT defense has also forced 10 turnovers to this point, four more than at this point last year.
Saturday's contest at DKR Memorial Stadium is one of the premier matchups of the college football weekend. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. on ABC.
