Rudolph, Washington Named AP Midseason All-Americans
October 17, 2017 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State football's Mason Rudolph and James Washington were both named to the inaugural AP Midseason All-America Team, the Associated Press announced Tuesday.
Washington earned a spot as a first-team wide receiver, while Rudolph collected second-team honors at the quarterback position.
Rudolph, a Heisman Trophy candidate, currently owns no fewer than 29 school records, and last week he tied an OSU record with his seventh career game with at least 400 passing yards. He's also hit 300 yards passing in every game this season and in nine of his last 11 games, dating back to last season.
His seven straight games with 300 yards passing marks the longest active streak in the nation and is also the longest in OSU history. The Rock Hill, South Carolina native's 2,368 passing yards this season rank as the second most nationally, trailing only New Mexico State's Tyler Rogers (2,495), while his 19 passing touchdowns are tied for the third-highest total in the country.
James Washington has been Rudolph's top target this season, and he leads the nation in several statistical categories of his own. His 32 career receiving touchdowns marks the highest total among all active FBS players. He also leads all active players with 3,805 career receiving yards - nearly 600 yards in front of the next best - and is No. 1 in college football with 20.5 yards per catch in his career.
He is currently the nation's leading receiver with 147.0 yards per game, despite sitting out the fourth quarter in four of Oklahoma State's blowout wins this season.
Washington is a consensus pick as the nation's top wide receiver and the clear-cut favorite to win the Biletnikoff Award this season. He is also on the watch lists for the Walter Camp Award and the Maxwell Award, both of which are presented to the nation's best player.
The inaugural AP Midseason All-America Team was voted upon by 16 members of the AP Top 25 voting panel. To see the complete list of AP Midseason All-Americans, click here.
