January 10, 2017 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State football team wrapped up the season ranked No. 11 in the final Associated Press and Amway Coaches polls released on Tuesday. It marks the Cowboys highest ranking in the final AP poll since finishing No. 3 in 2011.
The Cowboys ascended two spots in both polls after a 38-8 victory over then-No. 11 Colorado in the Valero Alamo Bowl. The Pokes played a complete game offensively, as James Washington caught nine passes for 171 yards and a touchdown, while Mason Rudolph passed for 314 yards and three scores. Freshman running back Justice Hill recorded his sixth 100-yard outing of the season, along with a touchdown as well.
The OSU defense was also stout in the win, holding the Buffaloes to well below their offensive season averages. Defensive tackle Vincent Taylor led the way for the Cowboy defense, recording seven total tackles and a sack.
Other Big 12 schools appearing in the poll include No. 5/3 Oklahoma and No. 18/17 West Virginia. Kansas State received votes in both polls.
