What the Media Are Saying: OSU vs. Texas
October 01, 2016 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER – With Oklahoma State hosting Texas Saturday, many are calling it the Cowboys' biggest game of the season thus far, and media have covered several different angles of the game.
ESPN.com's Max Olson noticed some unique trends in the series between the Cowboys and Longhorns, most notably that the team on the road has won seven consecutive meetings – a streak that OSU looks to break today.
The Tulsa World's Mark Cooper wrote about some keys to the game, mainly citing the importance of the level of physicality both teams will bring. Cooper wrote about OSU's chance to match Texas in the physical aspect of the game, saying, "it's a tough assignment for the OSU defense, but also a chance for the front seven to continue to impress versus the run. The Cowboys have allowed 3.5 yards per carry and rank ninth in the country with 35 tackles for loss in four games."
Another part of that physicality will come from the Cowboy offensive line, who put up an impressive performance in the run game last week at Baylor.
Kyle Fredrickson with The Oklahoman wrote about one of the Cowboys' newest starters in offensive lineman Marcus Keyes. Fredrickson had a great feature on the Cowboy o-lineman and how his family helped him get to where he is today.
Fredrickson's colleague John Helsley wrote about another, long-established key to the Cowboy offense in receiver James Washington. Helsley talked about what makes him so special and how it impacts the rest of OSU' talented receiving corps, creating opportunities in one-on-one coverage on the opposite of the ball.
With so many weapons on the field for both teams and a lot at stake, it should be a fun one to watch. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. on ABC with Mike Patrick, Ed Cunningham and Dr. Jerry Punch on the call.
