Cowboy Duo To Compete At WATC

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's Viktor Hovland and Kristoffer Ventura will be in action this week when they represent Norway at the World Amateur Team Championships in Riviera Maya, Mexico.
The 2016 tournament marks the third time Ventura, a junior for the Cowboy squad, has represented Norway at the event. In 2012, he posted a 5-under total of 209 to tie for 13th place. The 2014 tournament saw him tie for 51st place with a 280 score.
Hovland, a Cowboy freshman, will be taking part in the tournament for the first time.
Conducted by the International Golf Federation, the World Amateur Team Championships are a biennial international amateur golf competition rotated among three geographic zone of the world: Asia-Pacific, American and European-African.
Each team in the event has two or three players and plays 18 holes of stroke play for four days. In each round, the total of the two lowest scores from each tam constitutes the team score for the round. The 72-hole total is the team's score for the championship.
This year's event will be contested at Mayakoba El Camaleón Golf Club and Iberostar Playa Paraiso Golf Club and will take place from Sept. 21-24.
