2016 Senior Class Adds To Cowboy Baseball's Proud Tradition

*OSU's 2016 senior class was honored prior to Saturday's regular season finale vs. Kansas at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium. The Senior Day script is below, with a highlight video of the class found by clicking the icon in the picture above.
The 2016 Cowboy Baseball senior class will leave an impressive legacy behind, adding a notable list of accomplishments to OSU's storied baseball program. The Class of 2016 includes five seniors, three who have played four seasons in a Cowboy uniform, one whose career spans three seasons and another who is in his second year in Stillwater.

This class of seniors helped return OSU to prominence as all five will play on an NCAA Tournament team each of his years in a Cowboy uniform. Among the many highlights of this group is a 2014 season that saw the Cowboys capture the first regular season Big 12 Conference championship in program history while also claiming an NCAA Regional championship and advancing to the third Super Regional in OSU history.

Conor Costello, RHP/OF
A native of Edmond, Oklahoma, Costello has been with the OSU program since 2013 and has started 116 Â games in a Cowboy uniform. A valuable two-way player, Conor has spent time in the outfield, at DH and first base and on the pitcher's mound and has recorded 17 home runs and 78 RBIs to go along with a 3-1 record, a save and an ERA under 3.00.
Costello was named to the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award Watch List in 2015 and earned a spot on the NCAA Stillwater Regional All-Tournament Team in 2014 after helping lead the Cowboys to a Regional title by going 6-for-12 with two home runs and a team-high six RBIs.
Costello is also one of just four Cowboys in history to earn Academic All-Big 12 First Team honors three times.

Alex Hackerott, LHP
Hackerott has spent all four of his collegiate seasons in an OSU uniform. The Sand Springs, Oklahoma native has been a valuable member of the Cowboy bullpen and ranks in the top 10 on OSU's career appearances list with 67, all of those in relief.
He has compiled a 7-1 record and 2.39 ERA along the way and has also racked up 64 strikeouts in 60 1/3 innings of work.
Hackerott is also a two-time Academic All-Big 12 honoree.

Corey Hassel, OF/RHP
Hassel has become a fixture in the OSU outfield during a four-year career in his hometown. In nearly 200 career games, Hassel has compiled a .284 batting average, 70 RBIs, 27 doubles, 29 stolen bases and 31 sacrifice bunts and has been one of the Big 12's top defensive outfielders both with his glove and right arm.
As a junior, Hassel was the Cowboys' leading hitter with a .312 batting average and earned All-Big 12 Second Team honors. He has also spent time on the mound, where he picked up his only career win against Texas in 2015 in a game in which he also hit a game-winning home run in the 18th inning.
Hassel has also earned Academic All-Big 12 Second Team accolades twice in his career.

David Petrino, INF
Petrino joined the OSU program after a standout career at Central Arizona Community College, where he was an all-region performer and a 39th-round draft pick of the Chicago Cubs.
A native of Springdale, Arkansas, David has played in nearly 60 games for the Cowboys and spent time as an infielder and DH. In 2015, he had a career day in a 24-2 win over Bedlam-rival Oklahoma when he went 4-for-5 at the plate with a triple and two RBIs.
Petrino was named to the Academic All-Big 12 Second Team in 2016.

Donnie Walton, INF
Walton has added his name to the list of the Cowboys' all-time greats during his four seasons at OSU. A native of Tulsa, Walton ranks in the top 10 in career games played for the Cowboys and is a two-time All-Big 12 First Team infielder, one of only nine OSU players to earn All-Big 12 First Team honors twice in a career.
OSU's all-time leader in sacrifice bunts, Walton is also on the verge of joining the top 10 in career hits and doubles, while he sports a career batting average of .317 and has racked up 130 RBIs.
As a sophomore in 2014, Walton was named the Most Outstanding Player at the NCAA Stillwater Regional as he went 7-for-12 with a pair of RBIs and helped OSU earn its third Super Regional berth in school history.
Walton was also named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team in 2016.
