STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State's men's golf team extended its NCAA-leading total of regional victories on Wednesday, posting a 19-shot triumph at the NCAA Stillwater Regional at Karsten Creek.
OSU finished with a 7-over total of 871 after a closing round of 295. Oklahoma was second at 890, while Clemson moved into third, finishing at 901.
The win, which was the Cowboys' fourth of the season, was the 11th regional victory in program history. Clemson and Arizona State stand second nationally with seven wins apiece.
Individually, Kristoffer Ventura became OSU's second consecutive regional medalist, following senior Jordan Niebrugge's win last year, and the program's 11th overall.
The sophomore carded a 73 during his third round to finish at 216 and one stroke ahead of UMKC's Antoine Rozner. Ventura's even-par tally resulted in his second victory of the year after his win earlier this spring at the Aggie Invitational.
After opening his round with a birdie at the par-5 first, Ventura moved back to even par for the day with a bogey at the third. After carding a bogey at the eighth, he recorded a par at the ninth to turn at 1-over 37. Ventura closed his round with nine consecutive pars on his inward nine to secure the victory.
Ventura was joined in the top five by a pair of Cowboys with sophomore Stratton Nolen finishing third and Niebrugge finishing fifth.
Nolen closed with a 77 to finish at 218 and notch his fourth consecutive top 10, while Niebrugge closed with a 75 to get in with a 220 total and earn his third top 10 of the season.
Sophomore Sam Stevens tied for sixth place after closing with a 74 to finish at 221.
Sophomore Brendon Jelley posted his low round of the event with a 73 to climb inside the top 20, tying for 17th place at 226.
The Cowboys will seek their 11th national championship when they begin play at the NCAA Championship on May 27 at Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Ore.
