Cowgirls On Impressive Winning Streak

STILLWATER – With two wins yesterday against Tulsa and UConn at Cowgirl Stadium, Oklahoma State softball extended its winning streak to a season-high seven games.
The Cowgirls have won low-scoring games, and offensive games. They've held leads from start to finish and had to come back in others. They've won at home and on the road.
But one thing has remained, Oklahoma State has continued winning.
Just how impressive has this streak been, though? Take a look for yourself.
Oklahoma State now turns its attention to Bedlam-rival Oklahoma. The Cowgirls are scheduled to host the Sooners on Friday at 6 p.m. at Cowgirl Stadium. The game will also be Oklahoma State's Senior Night, where five Cowgirls will be honored prior to the game.

- Oklahoma State has earned this streak against quality opponents, in fact, three of the five are ranked in the latest Top 75-RPI poll.
- With the wins against Kansas in Lawrence, the Cowgirls earned their first conference series win on the road since 2011. Oklahoma State showed plenty of toughness in the series, as it trailed in both games but found a way to leave with a victory.
- The Cowgirls have brought plenty of offense to the plate, outscoring opponents 49-21. They've also outhit opponents 67-39.
- Situational hitting has been key during the stretch, as Cowgirl batters are batting .414 with runners on base and .391 with runners in scoring position.
- As a team, Oklahoma State batters are averaging just under 10 hits a game, and seven runs.
- The pitchers have shined as well, pitching two shutouts and allowing five or less hits four times over the stretch. Together, Shea Coats, Brandi Needham and Kacy Freeze have posted a 2.89 ERA. Needham has pitched exceptionally well, going 2-0 while posting a 1.97 ERA.
- Getting out of innings is always important, and the Oklahoma State pitchers have been doing that. They're holding teams to a .184 batting average with two outs.
- As a unit, the Cowgirl pitchers are averaging allowing just five hits a game, and three runs.
- At the plate, the Cowgirls have been led by Vanessa Shippy. The Idaho native has gone off with a .619 batting average on 13 hits with five RBIs and three stolen bases. In the seven games, she has reached base every game, and had two or more hits in five.
- Teams have also struggled to find a way to stop Maddi Holcomb. She's batting .471 over the stretch, with an incredible .500 on base percentage.
