Coach Yurcich Talks About the Cowboy Quarterbacks
March 09, 2016 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State football team held its second practice of the spring Wednesday at the Sherman E. Smith Training Center. The Cowboys practiced for approximately two hours wearing shorts and helmets. At the conclusion of the session, offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich talked about the practice and the Cowboy quarterbacks. His comments:
On practice:
"It was good. There was good intensity, a lot of energy. We threw an interception and fumbled a snap, so it's really just about the basics and ball security. We've got to improve upon that."
On if the dynamic of the quarterback group is different without J.W. Walsh:
"Nothing's really changed. Mason's our leader. He's a great leader. We're hitting on all cylinders. Obviously he brought a lot to the table, but we have tremendous confidence in Mason and what he brings and that's been the case since he's been the starter here."
On how the quarterbacks are splitting reps in practice:
"Mason's getting all the reps with the ones, obviously. Then we're making it 50-50 with the twos. [John] Kolar is rolling in with Taylor [Cornelius] and those guys are battling it out for the backup position."
