Track and Field's Smith Recognized By Big 12
March 04, 2016 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
IRVING, Texas - Oklahoma State Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Dave Smith has been named Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Male Coach of the Year, the conference announced Friday.
Smith takes the conference honor after leading the Cowboys to their second indoor conference title in three seasons. He also won the award back in 2014 after the Cowboys shocked defending champion Texas for a four-point victory.
Smith has had his share of Big 12 honors since taking over the track and field and cross country programs, winning seven men's cross country coach of the year honors and a women's cross country coach of the year honor this past fall to go along with his two track and field awards.
With Smith at the helm, OSU is the only program in Big 12 history to win both a cross country and track and field title in the same season. They did it for the first time in 2014, and again this season.
