March 24, 2016 | Cowboy Basketball
STILLWATER โ For the third straight season Brad Underwood was named the National Association of Basketball Coaches District 23 Coach of the Year.
Underwood was introduced as Oklahoma State's head coach on Wednesday after leading Stephen F. Austin to an 89-14 record over the last three seasons, which is tied with Brad Stevens (Butler, 2008-10) for the most wins by a head coach in his first three seasons in NCAA history.
Last season, he and the Lumberjacks posted a 28-6 record and picked up an NCAA Tournament win, which was the program's second in Underwood's tenure.
A 1986 graduate of Kansas State, Underwood played under Jack Hartman, who was a disciple of legendary Cowboy head coach, Mr. Henry Iba.
NABC District 23 includes the Southland and Southwestern Athletic conferences. Underwood is the only coach to ever win three straight Southland Conference Coach of the Year awards.
