Cowgirls Outlast K-State on Senior Night

STILLWATER, Okla. – In the final home game for Brittney Martin, Roddricka Patton and Rylie Swanson, Oklahoma State women's basketball wrapped up its regular season with a 59-51 comeback victory against Kansas State on Monday in front of 1,754 fans inside of Gallagher-Iba Arena

The win improves the Cowgirls to 21-8 (11-7 Big 12), while K-State drops to 18-11 (8-10 Big 12). OSU's 21st win surpasses last season's total and its 11th conference win ties for the most in program history.

Down by five to open the fourth quarter, back-to-back layups from Kaylee Jensen and Martin cut the deficit to one and forced K-State to call a timeout at the seven-minute mark in the fourth quarter.

Martin came up big again with five minutes remaining as she found Mandy Coleman on the right wing for a stepback 3-pointer that gave the Cowgirls their first lead of the second half, 47-46. A pair of free throws reclaimed the lead for K-State, but Martin dished it to the right wing once again, this one finding Karli Wheeler for the trey to put OSU back on top.

With two minutes remaining in the contest, OSU had knotted the game at 50 and that's when Martin drained an 18-footer to put the Cowgirls in front for good.

Martin found herself in rare foul trouble, which forced her to the bench late in the third quarter. But even playing most of the fourth quarter with four fouls the All-American still managed to record her 19th double-double of the season, finishing with 10 points, 10 rebounds, four steals and two crucial assists in her final home game.

The Cowgirls' other seniors also had big moments of their own on senior night.

In the first quarter, Rylie Swanson, who made her first start of the season, got the crowd on its feet when she scored the Cowgirls' first points of the with an 18-foot baseline jumper.

Roddricka Patton drained one of OSU's six made 3-pointers in the contest and dished out five assists during her final game inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.

With time running out in the first quarter, Patton found Jensen underneath the basket and Jensen converted the layup just before the buzzer sounded to put OSU up, 19-15.

Jensen finished with a team-high 13 points, nine rebounds and a career high four assists. The sophomore was one of six different Cowgirls to score at least six points in the contest

OSU finishes with a 16-1 record inside of Gallagher-Iba Arena this season.

Next up for the Cowgirls is a trip to Oklahoma City for the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship which begins on Friday inside the Chesapeake Energy Arena.
