Ogbah Impresses at NFL Combine
February 28, 2016 | Cowboy Football
INDIANAPOLIS – Former Oklahoma State defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah had an impressive day at the 2016 NFL Combine Sunday, ranking among the top three defensive lineman in the 40-yard dash, vertical jump and broad jump in the on-field workouts.
Ogbah's 40-yard dash time of 4.63 seconds was the second-fastest among defensive linemen at the event, while his vertical jump of 35.5 inches was also second and his broad jump of 121 inches ranked third.
To put his 40-time in perspective, it was faster than both Carolina Panthers cornerback Josh Norman's and San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick's times when they ran the event at previous years' NFL Combines.
Ogbah also held his own in the three-cone drill, ranking 11th among defensive linemen with a time of 7.26 seconds. Additionally, he ran the 20-yard shuttle in 4.5 seconds and completed 20 reps in the bench press.
A dominant force throughout his career, Ogbah capped his time at OSU with a Big 12 Co-Defensive Player of Year performance last season. He ends his time as a Cowboy as the school's all-time leader in career quarterback hurries and ranks fourth in career sacks and tackles for loss despite forgoing his final year of eligibility.
Former Cowboy defensive end Jimmy Bean was also on hand for the NFL Combine this weekend, but did not participate in any on-field workouts. He recorded 20 reps in the bench press and participated in off-the-field activities.
Bean has been a key component of the Cowboy defense for several years, starting 34 consecutive games before his senior season was cut short due to injury. Despite missing the last five games of the year, he ranked second on the team with 10.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks.
OSU cornerback Kevin Peterson is also competing at the NFL Combine, with his workout scheduled for tomorrow morning.
The event will be broadcast live on NFL Network and on www.nfl.com. A recap of his performance will be posted on okstate.com and on the Cowboy football Twitter and Facebook pages.
Peterson, who was also invited to this year's Senior Bowl, was consistently a lock-down cornerback who started in all four years of his career. He was a 2015 team captain and a first-team All-Big 12 performer who was a central figure in helping OSU limit Baylor's Corey Coleman, TCU's Josh Doctson and Oklahoma's Sterling Shepard all under 100 receiving yards last season.
The 2016 NFL Scouting Combine wraps up tomorrow, while the 2016 NFL Draft is scheduled for April 28-30 in Chicago.
