Cowgirls Improve to No. 12 in USTFCCCA Poll
February 15, 2016 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track, Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
NEW ORLEANS – The Oklahoma State Cowgirl track and field team soared 10 spots in this week's United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association top-25.
OSU jumped from 22 to 12 in the week four rankings, improving 10 places for the second time this season.
The Cowgirls' improvement in the poll came after a stellar weekend of competition at four meets across three time zones.
Chase Ealey rocketed up the national shot put rankings with a massive personal best throw of 17.63m/57-10.25, which is good enough for third in the NCAA.
All-American Kaela Edwards put herself into another top-10 list, this time running the seventh-fastest 3,000 in the NCAA. Edwards now has qualified for the Indoor Championships with the third-best 800-meter time at 2:03.60, the second-best mile at 4:32.14 and has qualified as a member of the distance medley relay team for a total of four events.
On the men's side, the Cowboys sat at No. 24 for the second consecutive week.
John Teeters is the only Cowboy with a top-10 mark in the country this season, sharing a tie for the No. 1 60-meter time in the country with a 6.54.
The Cowboys and Cowgirls have one more weekend and two more competitions remaining on the schedule before heading to Ames, Iowa, for the Big 12 Indoor Championships February 26-27.
