Track and Field Releases Indoor Schedule

STILLWATER – Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Dave Smith announced the 2016-17 indoor track and field schedule Tuesday, which includes three trips to Fayetteville, Arkansas, and the Big 12 Championships in Ames, Iowa, Feb. 24-25.
The season kicks off this Saturday at the K-State Winter Invitational in Manhattan, Kansas. It is the first of two appearances in Manhattan for OSU this season. The Cowboys and Cowgirls return to K-State in 2017 for the DeLoss Dodds Invitational in January.
The first meet of the new year for OSU, and the first meet after the initial United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll, will be the Holiday Inn Invite in Lincoln, Nebraska, Jan. 13-14.
For the third-straight year, the second weekend in February will be a busy one for the Pokes.
The track and field squads will be split into four groups and scattered across the country in Ames, Albuquerque, Fayetteville and Seattle, Feb 10-11.
Wrapping up the regular season are trips back to Fayetteville for the Arkansas Qualifier, and South Bend, Indiana, for the Alex Wilson Invitational. At last season's Alex Wilson Invitational, the Cowboy distance medley relay team ran the third-fastest time in NCAA history.
Just a week after closing out the regular season, OSU heads to Ames for the Big 12 Championships.
The Cowboys won the indoor title in 2016 and the Cowgirls took second to Texas.
The 2017 NCAA Indoor Championships will be held March 10-11 in College Station, Texas, at the Gilliam Indoor Stadium on the campus of Texas A&M.
