What The Media Are Saying: Cowboys Win the Alamo Bowl
December 31, 2016 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER – The Cowboy football team finished off the 2016 season Thursday with a dominating Alamo Bowl victory, defeating Colorado, 38-8, at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
The Cowboys have received high praise across the board for their effort, and many are calling the game a great stepping stone into a potentially successful 2017 season.
To summarize the night, The Oklahoman's John Helsley pointed to three plays that defined the game for the Cowboys and the Tulsa World's Mark Cooper provided his Alamo Bowl observations immediately following the end of the game.
Helsley's colleague at The Oklahoman, Berry Tramel, also gave us a good look inside the numbers following the big win.
A common sentiment following the way the Cowboys won is that they are now set up for big expectations heading into 2017. ESPN's Max Olson gave his take on the game yesterday and finished the story by writing, "But the performance the Cowboys put together against a top-10 foe in the Alamodome should be taken as a fair warning: They're ready for great expectations in 2017."
Jenni Carlson of The Oklahoman agreed, saying "These Cowboys gave notice — they are going to be a force with which to be reckoned," in her story yesterday.
For one article on a bigger scope, ESPN's Jake Trotter had a great story on the day of the game about OSU offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich and how he is thriving in his dream job.
With as much attention as the Alamo Bowl win has gotten the Cowboys, there's no doubt that it was a big statement for the program and great exclamation point to one of the best seasons in school history.
