Cowgirl Soccer Trio Earns Academic Honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Three Oklahoma State Cowgirls collected academic accolades from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, it was announced by the organization today.

Forward Courtney Dike once again added to her impressive resumé as she was named to the 2016 NSCAA Division I Scholar All-America Second Team to go along with NSCAA Scholar All-South Region First Team honors. The senior is the sixth OSU player to earn NSCAA Scholar All-America recognition and the first since 2012.

Also earning NSCAA Scholar All-South Region plaudits for the Cowgirls were goalie Michela Ongaro, who was named to the second team, and defender Natalie Calhoun, who was chosen for the third team.

Dike will graduate with honors in May 2017, and she is concurrently working on bachelor's and master's degrees in accounting while also minoring in Spanish. Carrying a 3.85 grade point average, Dike is a three-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team selection and also a three-time CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 honoree.

On the field, Dike capped a standout career in 2016 as she was named the Big 12 Co-Offensive Player of the Year and an All-Big 12 First Team performer. She finished the season with 10 goals and seven assists and ends her career ranked in the top five on OSU's all-time lists in goals (31), assists (21), points (83) and shots (204).

Coming off her junior season for the Cowgirls, Ongaro is already working on her master's in business administration after earning a degree in finance in May 2016. She carries a 3.88 GPA and is a two-time Academic All-Big 12 selection.

Ongaro racked up a career-high 88 saves in 2016, a total that led the Big 12 and ranked as the eighth highest in a single season in OSU history. She also recorded four shutouts on the season.

Calhoun completed her standout career in 2016 as one of the top defenders in OSU history. A marketing and management major, she carries a 3.31 GPA and is a three-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team honoree.

As an anchor on OSU's back line, Calhoun started the final 83 games of her OSU career and starred on defenses that recorded 26 shutouts. She led Cowgirl field players in minutes played in 2016 and recorded a pair of goals on the season. She was a four-time All-Big 12 Second Team defender and one of only four players in OSU history to earn All-Big 12 status four times.
