Cowboy Football Team Awards Announced

STILLWATER – Quarterback Mason Rudolph and defensive tackle Vincent Taylor were honored with the Bob Fenimore Award presented to the team's most valuable players as part of the Oklahoma State football banquet held Sunday evening.
Several other team honors and awards were handed out as well, with receiver James Washington and running back Chris Carson earning the Thurman Thomas Award presented to the team's outstanding offensive players and safety Jordan Sterns and linebacker Chad Whitener securing the Leslie O'Neal Award presented to the team's outstanding defensive players.
Jerel Morrow and Justin Phillips were winners of the outstanding special teams player award and Justice Hill (offense) and Tralund Webber (defense) were presented with the Russell Okung Award given to the team's outstanding newcomer.
As has been the case throughout the Mike Gundy era at Oklahoma State, season captains are not named until after the conclusion of the regular season, and this year's captains, as voted by their teammates, are James Washington and Chris Carson (offense), Jordan Sterns and Vincent Taylor (defense) and Keegan Metcalf (special teams). They will serve as Cowboy's captains for the Valero Alamo Bowl on Dec. 29.
Blake Jarwin and Zac Veatch (offense) and Motekiai Maile and Tre Flowers (defense) earned the Barry Sanders Award for making the greatest contribution to the team with the least recognition.
Chris Lacy and Brad Lundblade (offense) and Ramon Richards and Jordan Burton (defense) were winners of the Vernon Grant Award for outstanding leadership and enthusiasm and Grant Newell was the recipient of the Dr. L.L. Boger Award for academic and athletic achievement.
Seven four-year lettermen were honored for their contributions to Oklahoma State football over the span of their careers – Rennie Childs, Ben Grogan, Austin Hays, Ashton Lampkin, Jhajuan Seales, Jordan Sterns and Zac Veatch.
The Cowboys (9-3 overall; 7-2 Big 12) have a chance to secure their fifth 10-win season in the last seven years when they take on Pac-12 South division champions Colorado at the Valero Alamo Bowl at 8 p.m. on Dec. 29 in San Antonio's Alamodome.
