LAHAINA, Hawaii -- Jawun Evans was once again electric for Oklahoma State, in the Cowboys first loss of the season to North Carolina 107-75 Tuesday night in the Maui Invite.Â
Evans, a Bob Cousy Award and Naismith Trophy watch list selection, had his eighth career 20-point game by halftime, and ended the night with 30 points. It was his fourth career 30-point game, third of the year and his second in two games in Maui. He is the fifth player in the program's history to have back-to-back 30+ point games in a year. He's also the first player from a major conference this season with at least three.
The Cowboys  (4-1) suffered their first defeat of the young season at the hands of the No. 4 Tar Heels.
North Carolina took the lead early with a 12-point lead in the first 4 1/2 minutes. The Tar Heels hit seven of their first 13 shots to open with a 16-4 lead over Oklahoma State.

The Tar Heels would go into the half leading 51-38.

North Carolina hit a couple of quick baskets to open the second half and despite the Cowboys efforts would go on to win.

Lindy Waters also reached double digits for the Cowboys with 10 points.
The all-time series between OSU and UNC is now tied at 1-1, with the only other appearance coming in the 1946 NCAA championship game.

The Cowboys will face Georgetown in the third-place game of the Maui Invitational at 2:30 p.m. HAT (6:30p.m. Central) on ESPN2.This will be the first ever meeting between Oklahoma State and Georgetown, who will enter Wednesday's game with a 2-3 mark. The Hoyas fell to Wisconsin, 73-57, in the Maui Invite semifinals.
