Cowboys Rise Into Top 10 of College Football Playoff Rankings
November 22, 2016 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State football team jumped a spot to No. 10 in this week's College Football Playoff rankings this week. The ranking is the Cowboys' highest in the poll since coming in at No. 6 on Nov. 17 of last season.
The Cowboys' ascent in the rankings comes at the heels of a 31-6 rout of TCU in Fort Worth, Texas, last weekend. Boasting a seven-game Big 12 win streak for only the third time in program history, OSU has risen eight spots since debuting at No. 18 in the initial poll on Nov. 1. This week marks the third week in the last two seasons that the Pokes have been ranked in the top 10 by the playoff committee.
Oklahoma State emerged into the top 10 of the Associated Press and Amway Coaches polls as well earlier this week, coming in at No. 10 in both. It marked the 28th separate week under head coach Mike Gundy that the Cowboys had been ranked in the top 10 by the AP.
Big 12 foe Oklahoma joins the Cowboys in the top 10 this week as well, moving up a spot to No. 7. West Virginia also makes an appearance in the poll, dropping to No. 19.
The Cowboys will face the Sooners in a winner-take-all matchup for the Big 12 title on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 11:30 a.m. CT in Norman, Okla.
