Washington Tabbed as Semifinalist for Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State wide receiver James Washington has been named a semifinalist for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, the organization announced Monday.

The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award recognizes the top offensive player in college football that also exhibits the integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community and tenacity that define Earl Campbell. To qualify for the award, the nominee must have been born in Texas, graduated from a Texas High School, or played at a Texas-based junior college or four year college.

As a junior, Washington has racked up 60 catches for 1,159 yards and nine touchdowns to rank 11th in the country in total yards, while his 105.4 receiving yards per game rank 12th nationally. He also averages an impressive 19.32 yards per reception which ranks 16th.

Washington has been a relentless downfield threat this season, as his nine touchdowns on the year span an average of 42.3 yards per touchdown catch. Washington has surpassed 100 yards receiving in 11 games during his career, including five times this season and four times in his last six games.

Recording 296 receiving yards in Oklahoma State's win over Pittsburgh, Washington tallied the most yards by any player against a Power Five Conference opponent this season. Washington's yardage marked the second-highest single-game mark in school history and the fourth-highest in Big 12 history. He also averaged 32.9 yards per reception in the win to set a school record.

The list of 16 semifinalists for the award will be narrowed to five finalists next month. The winner will be announced at The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Banquet in Tyler, Texas, on Wednesday, Jan. 11.
