November 15, 2016 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State football team continued its climb in the College Football Playoff rankings Tuesday evening, jumping two spots to No. 11. It matches the Cowboys' third-highest ranking in the poll in program history.
Â
Oklahoma State's second-straight rise in the poll comes after a thrilling 45-44 victory over Texas Tech last Saturday. Since the debut of the poll on Nov. 1 the Cowboys have gained seven spots, thanks in part to a six-game win streak which ties for the fourth-longest active streak among Power Five Conference schools. Overall, the Pokes have been ranked in the top 15 of the College Football Playoff rankings six times in the last two seasons.
Â
The Cowboys cracked the top-15 in this week's Associated Press and Amway Coaches polls, as the squad moved to No. 13 in both rankings. It marked the eighth time in the last nine seasons that OSU has reached the top 15 of the Associated Press poll.
Â
Aside from Oklahoma State, two other Big 12 schools are represented in this week's College Football Playoff rankings, with No. 9 Oklahoma moving up two spots to crack the top 10 and No. 14 West Virginia ascending two spots as well.
Â
The Cowboys will aim to extend their win streak this Saturday when they travel to Fort Worth, Texas, to take on TCU at 11 a.m. on FS1.
