Cowboys Earn Season-High Ranking
November 13, 2016 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State football team continued its rise up the rankings this week, jumping to a season-best No. 13 spot in both the Associated Press and Amway Coaches polls Sunday. The Cowboys have now reached the top 15 of the Associated Press poll in eight of the last nine seasons.
Â
OSU is riding a six-game win streak after a narrow 45-44 win over Texas Tech moved the Pokes to 8-2 on the season and 6-1 in conference play. The Cowboys' current six-game win streak ties for the fourth-longest active streak among Power Five Conference schools. In the win over the Red Raiders, OSU was led by Mason Rudolph, who passed for 395 yards and two touchdowns, including an 82-yard bomb to wide receiver James Washington that helped the Cowboys lock up the victory.
Â
This week's ranking extends OSU's string of consecutive weeks in the rankings to three.
Â
Oklahoma State is one of three Big 12 teams to appear in the top 15. Oklahoma leads the pack, coming in at No. 8 in both polls, followed by No. 10/9 West Virginia.
Â
The Cowboys look to continue their winning ways this weekend when they travel to Fort Worth, Texas on Saturday for a matchup with TCU. The game is scheduled for 11 a.m. on FS1.
