Ventura Leads In El Paso

Day 1 Results
EL PASO, Texas – Oklahoma State's Kristoffer Ventura fired a pair of 67s on Saturday at the Western Refining College All-America Classic to hold a one-shot lead at El Paso Country Club.
With his 8-under total of 134, the Cowboy junior will enter tomorrow's final round one shot clear of LSU's Sam Burns at the par-71, 6,889-yard layout.
Ventura's opening 67 saw him get off to a fast start with birdies at Nos. 1 and 2. He made the turn at 3-under after carding a birdie at the ninth. After posting a birdie at the 11th, he slipped back to 3-under with a bogey at the 13th. However, Ventura moved back to 4-under for the day with a birdie at the 17th.
During his afternoon round, Ventura bogeyed Nos. 10 and 12 to start his round before reeling off birdies at Nos. 13, 16, 17 and 18 to turn at 2-under 33. He played a bogey-free second nine that included birdies at the fourth and seventh.
Fellow junior Stratton Nolen carded rounds of 73 and 72 to stand alone in 17th place at 145.
