October 03, 2016 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER –Oklahoma State freshman running back Justice Hill was recognized as the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week, it was announced today.
For the second consecutive week, Hill rushed for more than 100 yards against a ranked opponent, this time going for 135 yards on 25 carries with a touchdown to help lead the unranked Cowboys to a 49-31 victory over No. 22 Texas.
Hill's second touch of the game resulted in a 30-yard touchdown run. He added a 23-yard rush in the third quarter.
His 135 yards rushing were the most ever for an Oklahoma State true freshman against Texas and were the ninth-most for a true freshman Cowboy in any game. They were also the most for any Big 12 newcomer this season.
When Hill's effort against Texas is combined with his 122 rushing yards against Baylor in OSU's previous game, he became the first true freshman in OSU history to rush for more than 100 yards in back-to-back games against ranked opponents.
Hill is averaging 128.5 rushing yards per game against Big 12 opposition, a mark that ranks second in the league. His 5.7 yards per carry in conference play leads all Big 12 running backs with at least 30 rushing attempts.
Hill and the Cowboys take on Iowa State at 2:30 p.m. CT Saturday in Boone Pickens Stadium.
