Cowboys Wrap Up Fall Schedule In Georgia

ALPHARETTA, Ga. – Oklahoma State's men's golf team wrapped up its fall slate on Sunday with an eighth-place showing at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate.
The Cowboys, who started the day in ninth place, moved up one spot at the par-72, 7,017-yard Lakeside Course after carding a 7-under 281 during their third round. OSU finished with a 54-hole total of 861, 3-under par. Texas used an 11-under 277 to climb six spots into a tie for first place with Virginia, which moved up from second place with a closing 280. The two squads shared top honors at 8-under 865.
There was also a tie in the individual standings with Virginia's Jimmy Stanger and Oklahoma's Max McGreevy finishing at 9-under 207 and two shots clear of the field.
Sam Stevens was OSU's top finisher, firing a 4-under 68 during his final round to tie for 12th place at 213. The junior put together a third round that featured eight birdies to move up five spots.
Opening play on the back nine, Stevens reeled off three consecutive birdies before carding bogeys at the 14th and 17th. He then birdied the 18th to turn at 2-under 34. After carding birdies on four of the first five holes on his second nine to get to 6-under par for the day, he posted bogeys at Nos. 6 and 8.
Freshman Viktor Hovland and sophomore Zach Bauchou were among the group to finish tied for 19th place. Hovland closed with a 73, while Bauchou posted a 71 to get to his 216 total.
Junior Stratton Nolen fired a 69 during his third round to move up 18 spots into a tie for 52nd place at 222.
Junior Kristoffer Ventura's 74 gave him a 226 total and sole possession of 69th place.
The Cowboys will get their spring schedule underway on Feb. 2 when they travel to Waikoloa, Hawaii to take part in the Amer Ari Intercollegiate.
