Abdi Named Big 12 Co-Runner of the Week

IRVING, Texas – For his impressive Cowboy debut at the Penn State Open, Oklahoma State's Hassan Abdi has been named Big 12 Co-Runner of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Abdi finished second at the meet in State College, Pennsylvania, with a time of 25:01 on the 5.2-mile course. He was the Cowboys' highest-finishing runner, just ahead of Josh Thompson in third and just behind FloTrack's 10th-ranked men's runner MJ Erb of Mississippi.
The Cowboy newcomer also received recognition from FloTrack, climbing to the No. 12 spot in their top-25 male runners list for the 2016 cross country season.
With Adbi's time, the No. 9 Pokes were able to hold off 10th-ranked Mississippi for the team title, scoring 47 to the Rebels' 49.
Abdi and the Cowboys' next test comes in just under two weeks at the Big 12 Cross Country Championships in Lubbock, Texas, where OSU will run for its ninth-straight conference title.
