Cowgirls Come Up Short In Manhattan

MANHATTAN, Kan. — Oklahoma State's women's basketball team suffered its second consecutive defeat on Wednesday night with a 47-44 loss at Kansas State in front of 4,441 fans inside Bramlage Coliseum.
The Cowgirls (12-4 overall, 2-3) led by nine with 7:36 to go, but would miss their final 14 shots and not score over the final 5:53 to suffer their second consecutive defeat in Manhattan.
K-State improved to 11-5 and 1-4 with the victory.
Both teams struggled out of the gate offensively with the Cowgirls holding the Wildcats to just eight points in the first quarter, but managing only 10 of their own.
OSU trailed by as many as six in the second quarter before a pair of 3-pointers from Roddricka Patton and another from Sydney Walton sent the two teams into the locker room tied at 22 apiece.
The Cowgirls went on an 8-1 down the stretch of the third to lead by seven before pushing the advantage to nine at 43-34 with 7:36 to go. However, OSU would score just one more point the rest of the way, allowing K-State to close the contest on a 13-1 run and earn its first Big 12 win.
Brittney Martin was the lone Cowgirl in double figures, finishing with 11 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
