PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. — Oklahoma State's men's golf team logged its first victory of the year at The Carmel Cup on Sunday, finishing six strokes clear of the field at Pebble Beach Golf Links.
The Cowboys posted a 3-over score of 363 during their third round to finish with a 54-hole tally of 1,075, 5-under par, and six shots ahead of Georgia at the par-72, 6,828-yard layout.
The victory marked the 13th time since 1973 Oklahoma State has won its season-opening event.
Three players shared the top spot in the individual race with Texas Tech's Hannes Ronneblad, Georgia's Greyson Sigg and Vanderbilt's Matthias Schwab all finishing at 2-under 214.
A pair of Cowboys were among the three players to finish a stroke back with sophomore Sam Stevens and redshirt freshman Nick Heinen posting 1-under totals of 215.
Stevens closed with a 72, while Heinen posted a 73 during his final round.
Junior Zachary Olsen also finished in the top 10, tying for seventh place at 216 after signing for a 75.
Freshman Zach Bauchou wrapped up his OSU debut with a 2-under 70 to finish at 218 and tied for 16th place.
Bauchou was joined in the group at 2-over by sophomore Kristoffer Ventura, who posted a 74 during his third round.
Junior Wyndham Clark carded his second consecutive 74 to tie for 27th place at 221.
OSU will be back in action Sept. 18 when it begins play at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational.
