Cowboys Third At Pebble Beach

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. — Oklahoma State's men's golf team opened its fall schedule on Friday at The Carmel Cup with a 361 total to come in tied for third place at Pebble Beach Golf Links.
The Cowboys' 1-over tally knotted them for third with Georgia at the par-72, 6,828-yard layout. Vanderbilt and Arkansas shared the lead after posting matching 357 totals.
Arkansas' Alvaro Ortiz fired an opening 69 to lead the individual race by one stroke.
Redshirt freshman Nick Heinen led the OSU lineup in his collegiate debut, posting a 71 to stand in a tie for fifth place. After carding an eagle at the par-5 second, Heinen offset a bogey at the fourth with a birdie at the sixth. Heinen posted a triple bogey at the eighth and a bogey at the 11th, moving him to 2-over for the day. However, he rebounded with birdies at the 14th, 17th and 18th to move back under par for the round.
Sophomore Sam Stevens and junior Zachary Olsen opened with 72s to finish play tied for 12th place.
Sophomore Kristoffer Ventura and junior Wyndham Clark were each a stroke back with 73s and tied for 18th place.
Freshman Zach Bauchou carded a 79 during his first round as a Cowboy to finish the day tied for 43rd place.
OSU will begin its second round tomorrow at 8:10 a.m. (PST). Live scoring for the event is available at golfstat.com.
