STILLWATER – Several former members of the Oklahoma State football team saw action in week three of the NFL season.
In one of the leagues' best individual performances of the season, Dallas Cowboys running back Joseph Randle set new single-game career highs with 87 yards on the ground and three touchdowns, with each score coming in the first half. The former OSU standout also recorded two catches for 18 yards, leading a Dallas offense that scored 28 first half points before eventually falling to Atlanta, 39-28.
After taking over at quarterback in the middle of last week's contest, Brandon Weeden excelled early in his first start of the season, throwing for 232 yards on 22-of-26 passing attempts. With nine-straight completions to start the game, Weeden set a new Dallas Cowboys franchise record with 21-consecutive passes completed, a mark that dates back to last season.
Also contributing to Dallas' effort were Tyler Patmon (one tackle, one pass defended) and kicker Dan Bailey, who finished 4-for-4 on PAT attempts.
In a wild back-and-forth affair with the Indianapolis Colts, Tennessee Titans cornerback Perrish Cox was effective on defense, providing four tackles and one pass defended in a narrow 35-33 defeat. Kevin Williams also recorded a tackle in the New Orleans Saints' loss to Carolina.
Antonio Smith (one pass defended) contributed to another victory for the Denver Broncos, who moved to 3-0 with a 24-12 win over Detroit, while Russell Okung's Seattle Seahawks earned their first victory of the season in a 26-0 shutout against Chicago.
